The
Evergreen Chamber Orchestra has been bringing music of all eras, including
contemporary, to the Evergreen area since 1983. The volunteer 48-member chamber
orchestra, is comprised of residents of the mountain area from Idaho Springs
to Bailey and from throughout the Denver metropolitan area. The Evergreen
Chamber Orchestra is unique in that it is the only community orchestra in
the Denver Metropolitan area that specializes in music written for a small
orchestra and in chamber music. It is also the only orchestra based in the
mountain area of Jefferson County. The Orchestra originated as a spontaneous
product of a true community need, and it has continued to grow and prosper
in service to the residents of Jefferson County. The community support for
the orchestra continues to flourish as Evergreen residents discover the talent
and cultural experience available in their own backyard.
The
Orchestra performs several concerts and recitals annually in the Evergreen
and Genesee area. Most of the concerts are performed in the main sanctuary
at Rockland Community Church in Genesee with new improved acoustics, providing
an intimate setting in which the audience can enjoy the pleasures of chamber
music and get acquainted with the individual members of the group.
The
recital series is hosted in the informal setting of private homes in the area
and provides a unique musical experience. The recitals are presented by the
orchestra musicians, who prepare pieces for small ensembles as a way of presenting
a greater breadth of music to our audience and at the same time strengthening
the musicians' expertise and musicianship.
The
Orchestra has worked and performed since its founding under the dynamic leadership
of Evergreen resident Maestro William Morse. Dr.
Morse's conducting style, innovative musical taste, and outstanding musicianship
have made him very popular with audiences as well as musicians.
The
Orchestra also has several fine ensembles comprised of strings, wind or brass
which are available for private parties, weddings or other events.
The
Evergreen Chamber Orchestra is funded in part through grants from the Scientific
and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) and Xcel
Energy Foundation.
