The Review Process for Conductor search 2010
- All submitted applications will be reviewed by a committee of six—the last day for accepting applications on line will be August 20, 2010.
- The committee will be looking for conducting experience and would prefer orchestra-conducting experience. Letters of recommendation will be verified. A DVD of the candidate’s conducting with a current group may be requested.
- The top five candidates will be notified by August 27, 2010 at which time they will be assigned their audition time and the two pieces that they will conduct.
- The top five candidates will conduct an audition on Saturday, September 11, 2010
- The auditions will consist of two contrasting pieces of standard literature. These pieces will be picked by the ECO Musical Activities committee.
- Each candidate will conduct the same two pieces.
- Each candidate must provide their own director scores.
- Each candidate will be given forty minutes to rehearse the orchestra followed by a fifteen minute question and answer session by the full orchestra.
- Candidates will not receive compensation for the Saturday, September 11th audition.
- The top three finalists will be chosen by an orchestra member vote. Each candidate will be asked to choose the concert literature, conduct and rehearse the orchestra for one concert cycle from the 2010-2011 season.
- Finalists will be compensated for their concert cycle as a guest conductor

- After all three candidates have completed their concert cycles, a one-year contract will be offered to the top candidate. This candidate will be chosen by orchestra member vote.

Permanent Job Description
- Research Literature
- Program Concerts within the limits of a chamber orchestra setting working with the Musical Activities Committee
- Program concert season annually-dates, soloist and literature must be included and presented to board for approval in June
- Audition Prospective Orchestra Musicians
- The music director will work closely with the orchestra personnel managers
- Screen ECO Soloists
- Screen and Choose Guest Soloists
- Prepare and rehearse with soloists prior to full orchestra rehearsal.
- Score Preparation for Weekly Rehearsals
- Organize a rehearsal schedule and Rehearse Orchestra Weekly Within Concert Cycle
- Conductor will have responsibility for cancelling any rehearsal due to inclement weather by notifying personnel managers in a timely manner
- Conduct Dress Rehearsal(s) and Concerts
- Music Director will attend board meetings as an ex-officio and prepare conductor’s report after each concert
- Music Director will assist the board in fundraising for the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra
- Music Director will work with board on Season Brochure and advertising
- Music Director will act as a community liaison for the ECO
- Music Director will find and subsidize substitute conductor in the event he/she cannot perform their duties.
