Dr. Morse holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Music from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and a Doctorate in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Arizona. He also studied at the Mozarteum Academy of Music in Salzburg, Austria. He is Professor Emeritus at Metropolitan State College of Denver where he conducted the Symphony Orchestra and taught Advanced Conducting for many years.
Dr. Morse is active as a guest conductor and performer. In 1999, in Denver’s Sister City, Kunming, China, he conducted the Kunming Symphony in the prestigious Century Friendship Concert. In 2005, he conducted the Colorado Foothills Festival Orchestra, comprised of musicians from JSO and ECO, in performances in England. Also an accomplished pianist, Dr. Morse has performed with or conducted for notable figures such as Wynton Marsalis, Billy Taylor, Doc Severinsen, and Dick Hyman.
A man of diverse musical talents, Maestro Morse is fond of the literature available for symphony and chamber orchestras. His dynamic conducting style, innovative musical programming, and outstanding musicianship have made him a favorite of Colorado audiences.
